Brown Treated Railway Sleepers (x20) | 2.4m X 240mm X 120mm

This pallet of brown-treated railway sleepers contains 20 sleepers measuring 2.4m x 240mm x 120mm each. These railway sleepers can be delivered nationwide using our pallet network courier or via crane within the South East of England.  We also offer a FREE Click & Collect service from our trade counter in Finchingfield, near Braintree in Essex.

Pressure-treated with a brown preservative, these softwood railway sleepers have an expected lifespan of around 8 to 10 years.  This treatment process ensures deep penetration of the wood preservative into the timber cells of the railway sleepers, offering long-lasting protection against fungal decay, insect attack and rot.  The tanalised railway sleepers have a brown colouration initially which will fade to a honey brown and finally to a silvery grey over time when exposed to the sun.  However, if you would prefer, these sleepers can be easily stained to suit your aesthetics with our Barrettine Wood Protective Treatment.  It is also advised that this treatment is applied if the railway sleepers are cut – using a circular saw, chainsaw or handsaw – as newly exposed cut surfaces will otherwise be exposed.

Available in our most popular length, 2.4m, these railway sleepers are perfect for use in conjunction with our 1.2m railway sleepers to create rectangular raised beds.  These railway sleepers can also be used for a variety of other landscaping and applications, with softwood sleepers being most popular for gardening, such as:
